“I was living in Dudley Port at the time, right next to Andy Cudgel and the infamous Cudgels HQ. I had a day off so decided to go to Dudley for a snack at Cranages cafe and browse the record shops. Remember them? I bumped into Gavin near WH Smith’s, he apologised for looking scruffy but explained that he had just been to sign on and he wanted them to feel sorry for him. I knew he was doing alright, he always had plenty of side deals going on. He handed me a tape, he said to have a listen and would I be up for playing some bass at a recording session lined up in a couple of weeks time? Yeah, no problem I said. I got back to my flat and put the tape on and couldn’t believe my ears. Wow! What an incredible set of songs! Only Stupid, Not So Far Away, Moon Song, Baby Blue and a couple more pop classics. I absolutely loved the sound, energy and pure pop joy. A couple of weeks later the band met and recorded Baby Blue and Live Forever with Pete Williams engineering.
That tape forms the basis for this record and piece of history. Sadly, I no longer have it, I am not very nostalgic, I never keep love letters just feel happy to have ever received them, Andy Cudgel and Gavin are the archivists, but it does hold a special place in my memory along with the photo session where the photos for the artwork were taken. Even though I am a part of the story, I still feel like a Proctors fan, like the first time I heard the demo tape. Enjoy these songs and I will remember the magic we created together”

This is absolutely beautiful! I am so happy the Under the Bridge releases led me down this road. It's unexpectedly spacious and just makes me happy! It's very hard to pick a favorite and I will not be skipping tracks as I play through this repeatedly. zq9mare1
